Amazon is the biggest online marketplace in the U.S. and Walmart.com is the second. Many resellers sell on both. The right question isn't which one is better, but which one fits your products, budget and experience right now.
| Walmart Marketplace | Amazon | |
|---|---|---|
| How to join | Application and approval required | Open signup for most sellers |
| Monthly fee | None | $39.99 for a Professional account (Individual plan charges $0.99 per item sold) |
| Referral fees | Mostly 15%, from 6% to 20% by category | Mostly 15%, varies by category |
| Fulfillment program | Walmart Fulfillment Services (WFS) | Fulfillment by Amazon (FBA) |
| Competition | Far fewer sellers per listing | Many sellers on popular listings |
| Traffic | Large, but smaller than Amazon | The most shopping traffic in the U.S. |

Fees change over time; confirm current numbers on each marketplace. See Walmart seller fees for Walmart's full category list.
The hardest part of moving to Walmart is research: there's no public sales rank, and Amazon tools don't use Walmart's fees. The Margenos Chrome extension fills that gap on any Walmart.com product with profit after Walmart referral and WFS fees, ROI, estimated monthly sales, every competing seller and their stock, and Buy Box history.

Walmart has no monthly subscription, while Amazon's Professional plan is $39.99 a month. Referral fees are similar on both, mostly 15% depending on the category.
