What the Pro Seller badge means for shoppers, the criteria sellers have to hit, and the perks that come with it.

A Walmart Pro Seller is a third-party Marketplace seller that Walmart has recognized for strong, consistent performance: fast and on-time delivery, few cancellations, quick replies to customers, good listings, competitive prices and a seller rating of at least 4.0. These sellers get a Pro Seller badge next to their business name on their Walmart.com listings. For shoppers, it's a sign the seller has a good track record. For sellers, it comes with real perks, including a referral fee discount on eligible listings.
Pro Seller is the top tier of Walmart's seller recognition program. Walmart's Marketplace Learn guide describes three tiers: Rising Seller, Advanced Seller and Pro Seller. Only the Pro Seller tier gets the badge that shoppers see. A Pro Seller is still a Marketplace seller, not Walmart itself. The badge means Walmart has measured the seller's recent performance and found it meets every Pro Seller requirement.
Walmart scores sellers on these metrics, mostly over the last 90 days. To earn the Pro Seller badge, a seller has to meet all of them:
| Metric | Pro Seller requirement |
|---|---|
| On-time delivery rate | 95% or higher |
| Seller-canceled orders | 1.5% or lower |
| Response rate (messages answered within 48 hours, last 30 days) | 95% or higher |
| Shipping speed score (free 3-day or faster delivery) | 50% or higher |
| Content quality score | 75% or higher |
| Price competitiveness score (last 30 days) | 75% or higher |
| Orders (rolling 90 days) | More than 100 |
| Active days on Marketplace | 90 or more |
| Seller rating | 4.0 or higher |
| Policy compliance | Full compliance with Marketplace policies |
Rising Seller and Advanced Seller have lower bars on the same metrics (for example, 90% and 92.5% on-time delivery) and no seller rating requirement. Walmart calculates the metrics daily and refreshes everyone's tier on the 5th and 20th of each month. A seller who drops below the criteria for two refresh cycles in a row can lose the status, and policy warnings can make a seller ineligible.
The price competitiveness score is where research matters most. If you buy a product that's only profitable at a price above what everyone else charges, you either lose money or hurt your score. Margenos shows every seller's price and stock on a listing, plus price and Buy Box history, so you can see the real selling price before you commit.
According to Walmart's Marketplace Learn guide, Pro Sellers get:
Advanced Sellers get a smaller 5% referral fee discount on Pro Listings plus some of the same perks. If you're running the numbers on a product, that fee discount changes your margin; see Walmart seller fees and the Walmart profit calculator.
Because tiers refresh twice a month, a bad week can show up fast. Check the Performance page after busy periods like Q4, when late shipments and cancellations tend to spike. If one metric is slipping, fix that first: a seller who misses only the response rate, for example, can often recover by the next refresh just by answering messages faster. Walmart also offers a Seller Academy course called Optimizing Your Listings for Pro Seller Success on Marketplace Learn.
Every Pro Seller is a Marketplace seller. The difference is performance, not a different kind of account:
| Pro Seller | Other Marketplace sellers | |
|---|---|---|
| Who they are | Approved third-party seller | Approved third-party seller |
| Badge on listings | Yes | No |
| Recent performance | Meets every Pro Seller target | May or may not meet them |
| Return policy | Walmart's Marketplace return policy | Walmart's Marketplace return policy |
| Referral fee | Discount on eligible listings | Standard rate (Advanced tier gets a smaller discount) |
These are two different things. "Fulfilled by Walmart" means the item ships from Walmart's warehouses through WFS. Pro Seller is a badge for the seller's overall performance. A seller can use WFS without being a Pro Seller, and a Pro Seller can ship its own orders. Using WFS does help with the fast-shipping part of the criteria.
The badge is a good sign, not a guarantee. To earn it, a seller needs high on-time delivery, very few cancellations, fast replies and a seller rating of at least 4.0, all measured by Walmart on recent orders. That's a meaningful filter. Still, read the seller's reviews and the return policy, and remember every Marketplace order is covered by Walmart's return policy whether or not the seller has the badge. Yes. Falling below the criteria for two refresh cycles in a row can cost a seller the status, and policy warnings can make a seller ineligible.
Walmart lists a 10% referral fee discount on eligible Pro Listings for Pro Sellers, and a 5% discount for Advanced Sellers.
The seller rating is based on buyer feedback, and Pro Sellers need 4.0 or higher. Read recent reviews on the seller's page for the details behind the number.
