A big, mostly ungated category, with bulky-item costs, fragile goods and a few rules that catch people out.

To sell home and kitchen products on Walmart, you need a Walmart Marketplace seller account and new items in retail packaging. Most of the category isn't gated, and the referral fee is 15% for Home, Kitchen, Decor & Garden, with different tiers for compact appliances and furniture. The bigger challenges are size, breakage and Walmart's own low prices. Margenos is a Walmart reseller tool (Chrome extension and Android app) that shows whether a product is worth selling on Walmart Marketplace: fees, profit, ROI, sales estimates, every competing seller with stock, the Buy Box winner and the product's price and Buy Box history.
| Category | Referral fee |
|---|---|
| Home, Kitchen, Decor & Garden | 15% |
| Appliances – Compact | 12% on the portion up to $300; 8% on the portion over $300 |
| Appliances – Major | 8% |
| Indoor & Outdoor Furniture | 15% on the portion up to $200; 10% on the portion over $200 |
| Tools & Home Improvement | 15% |
Hypothetical examples: a $39.99 set of storage containers pays 15% = $6.00. A $349 stand mixer, if Walmart classes it as a compact appliance, pays 12% of $300 ($36.00) plus 8% of $49 ($3.92), or $39.92. A $260 bookshelf pays 15% of $200 ($30.00) plus 10% of $60 ($6.00), or $36.00. Shipping counts toward the total. See Walmart seller fees.
Most home goods don't need pre-approval, but a few rules apply:
Home and kitchen has steady everyday demand: storage and organization, small appliances, cookware, bakeware, bedding and bath. Seasonal peaks include January organizing, spring cleaning and patio and garden, back-to-college dorm items in late summer, and Q4 for small appliances and gifts. Holiday decor sells in a short window, then drops hard.
Retail and clearance: seasonal decor and discontinued kitchen lines are common clearance finds; see Walmart clearance reselling. Online arbitrage: works for lighter items where shipping doesn't wipe out margin; see online arbitrage on Walmart. Wholesale: good for repeatable staples; see Walmart wholesale.
Full process: how to know if a product will sell on Walmart.
WFS fees rise with size and weight, so run WFS fees before sending bulky goods. Fragile items must come in a six-sided rigid box, and Walmart recommends lab testing fragile packaging. Factor in storage months for slow, seasonal items.

Home, Kitchen, Decor & Garden is 15%. Compact appliances are 12% up to $300 and 8% above, major appliances are 8%, and furniture is 15% up to $200 and 10% above.
Most don't. Watch for PFAS disclosure rules on cookware, state-restricted products such as some furniture, and brands that restrict their resellers.
Cookware with intentionally added PFAS is allowed only with disclosure on the label and listing, and is restricted in states that ban it. Don't claim PFAS-free without a manufacturer certificate.
Sometimes, but shipping and WFS fees rise with size and weight. Run profit with real fulfillment costs before buying.
Check profit after fees and fulfillment, the sales estimate, sellers and stock, Walmart's price and the price history. Margenos shows these on the Walmart.com listing.
