Yes, Walmart has an official Walmart Seller app. It's free on iPhone and Android, and it lets approved U.S. Walmart Marketplace sellers run their store from a phone: ship orders, update prices and inventory, answer customers and check sales. It is a store-management app. It doesn't tell you which products are worth buying to sell, which is a different kind of app. This page covers what the Walmart Seller app does, how to download it, and where a product research tool like Margenos fits.

What the Walmart Seller app does

According to Walmart's Marketplace pages, the app covers most day-to-day store tasks:

How to download the Walmart Seller app

  1. Get approved first. The app is only for existing U.S. Marketplace sellers. If you haven't applied yet, start with our guide to a Walmart seller account.
  2. Log in to Seller Center on a computer. Walmart says you need to be enrolled and to have logged in to Seller Center before using the app.
  3. Install the app. Search for "Walmart Seller" by Walmart in the App Store or Google Play, or use the links on Walmart's Seller App page.
  4. Sign in with your Seller Center details. The app uses the same login as Walmart Seller Center.
  5. Turn on notifications. Order and at-risk alerts are the main reason to have the app on your phone.

The iPhone version needs iOS 16 or later. Walmart's help guide also says Android users can install the app's .apk file directly if they can't use Google Play.

What the Walmart Seller app can't do

"Walmart marketplace app" can mean three different things

AppWho it's forWhat it does
Walmart Seller appApproved Marketplace sellersRuns your store: orders, items, WFS, messages, sales
Walmart App Store (in Seller Center)Sellers who want integrationsA directory of third-party apps, such as shipping and inventory tools, that connect to your account
Walmart shopping appShoppersBuying on Walmart.com, with a barcode scanner for price checks in stores

If you came here looking for the shopper's barcode scanner, that's in the regular Walmart app. Resellers who want to scan a barcode and see profit should read about the Walmart scanner app instead.

Walmart Seller app vs product research apps

Most sellers end up using two kinds of apps: one to run the store and one to decide what to stock. They answer different questions.

Tips for getting the most out of it

Where Margenos fits

Use the Walmart Seller app after you've bought inventory. Use Margenos before. On any Walmart.com product page, the Margenos Chrome extension shows the referral and WFS fees, your profit and ROI, the most you can pay, a sales estimate, every competing seller with their stock, and price and Buy Box history. In a store, the Android app scans the barcode and shows the same numbers. Because you don't need a seller account, you can research products while your Walmart application is still under review.

If you're new to the numbers, our guide on how to calculate Walmart profit walks through the math, and the Walmart profit calculator does it for one item.
