To sell health products on Walmart, including supplements, vitamins and personal care, you'll usually need Walmart's pre-approval for ingestible or topical products, products that meet FDA labeling rules, and sealed, in-date stock. The referral fee is 8% at $10 or less and 15% above $10. Margenos is a Walmart reseller tool (Chrome extension and Android app) that shows whether a product is worth selling on Walmart Marketplace: fees, profit, ROI, sales estimates, every competing seller with stock, the Buy Box winner and the product's price and Buy Box history.

Walmart's referral fee for health and personal care

Health sits in Walmart's Beauty, Health and Personal Care fee category: 8% when the total sales price is $10 or less, 15% when it's over $10. The rate applies to the whole price, and shipping counts toward the total.

Hypothetical examples: a $7.49 travel-size pain reliever with free shipping pays 8% = $0.60. A $14.99 bottle of vitamins pays 15% = $2.25. A 3-pack of the same vitamins at $39.99 pays $6.00. Multipacks raise the fee in dollars but often cut shipping per unit. See Walmart seller fees.

Approval and restrictions for health products

Walmart's prohibited products overview lists ingestible products, topical products and Class II or restricted medical devices as needing pre-approval, and names select OTC drugs, dietary supplements, medical devices and personal care product types as prohibited outright. For supplements, Walmart's policy adds:

Products that need a prescription or medical supervision aren't allowed. Brand authorization matters here too; see Walmart restricted brands.

What sells and seasonality

Health is mostly replenishment: daily vitamins, oral care, shaving, first aid and household medicine-cabinet staples sell year-round. Cold and flu products and immune supplements peak in fall and winter, allergy products in spring, and fitness and weight-management products in January.

Sourcing health products and the risks

Wholesale is the safest route because distributor invoices support approval and authenticity; see Walmart wholesale. Retail and clearance deals on supplements are often clearance for a reason: short dating. Check the expiration before you check the price. Online arbitrage works for some personal care, but you can't inspect dates before buying.

Checklist before you buy health products

  1. Confirm approval for ingestibles or topicals and the brand.
  2. Check the expiration date and how long it leaves to sell.
  3. Check the label for required panels and no disease claims.
  4. Look at sellers, stock and Walmart's offer on the listing.
  5. Run profit after the fee tier and fulfillment.

WFS notes for health products

WFS requires expiration or best-by dates in an accepted format (MM-DD-YYYY, YY-MM-DD or YYYY-MM-DD). Items expiring within 60 days won't be received, and items that reach 30 days or less are removed from inventory and returned or disposed of at your expense without reimbursement. Liquids need leak-proof packaging. See Walmart WFS fees.
